Doh – Hearing Protection Required

Another productive day.

After working out some technical difficulties, the boys from Complete Cutting & Coring went to it.

First the Master Bedroom.

Then the Ensuite Bay, Den & Kitchen. Cutting through 10” of concrete is noisy business.

Midday, Mark Dietrich from Dalco Spraying and his crew (Sean and John) arrived to do the waterproofing.

First they sealed the wall with Aquabloc (tar = stinky) which took only minutes. I think it took longer to get the compressor truck in and out of the garage.

After spraying, they installed Platon membrane which involved a gazillion screws and rivets.

For those who care about the technical stuff: Platon membrane is a tough, dimpled, 24-mil high-density polyethylene wrap that seals out water. The dimples provide an air gap behind the Platon so that any water that might get behind the membrane can drain down and won’t be trapped between the Platon and the Aquabloc.

Next, weeping tile. Gravel will have to wait until tomorrow. Too many vehicles in the way.

Thankfully, Mother Nature was exceptionally kind today.
