July 16-23 Roofer Madness

This was a “relaxing” week for Dave, taking most of Wednesday and Thursday off for the Member/Guest Tournament with his Caledon Woods buddies T-Wo, Primo et al.

The roofers on the other hand, gave Marty Trapp a run for his money on excellent work at  record pace. They completed all the shakes except for the area around the chimney, which is waiting on the stone. I anticipated 4-6 weeks. It took the crew 6 DAYS. Bonkers!

The lack of rain helped, even though we need it badly otherwise, and Mother Nature showed no mercy setting record temps again. Still they would not be deterred. Here are shots of the back and garage, done Monday and Tuesday.

Here is the front, which was stripped and shingled on Wednesday and Thursday. Patrick returned Friday to begin the last and largest area of metal roofing.

Looks gorgeous, and it’s nice that passersby have been responding favourably.

Dave and Sam will use the extra shakes for the side gables. Baby needs new booties!

The masons Pat Chwieniuk and Brock Campbell began work last Saturday and have been chipping away (pardon the pun) all week.

Whiteway Construction (plumbers) and Eastbridge Electric finished their rough-ins. And in other exciting news, landscape designer Samantha Kleinknecht presented her preliminary concepts for the backyard. Thanks to Jordan of Creative Landscape Depot for referring Sam (the 4th Sam we’re working with at the moment)! Love her aesthetic vision. (Note: the tracing paper doodles are Dave’s, not hers.)

Speaking of Sams – Samantha Murray, Snack Art Director extraordinaire – gave her masonry skills a shot this weekend as well. Thanks for the help Sammy!

Looking forward to what next week brings.
