Dave finally caved and bought a submersible pump last Sunday. He Macgyvered a filter to keep debris to a minimum, and dug a trench to channel the water to one area. Good thing, because it was another week of tropical weather in the K-Dub.
On the flip side, drywall was delivered on Tuesday. The installers are slated to begin early next week. HUGE!
Meantime, in order to finish the stone work on the chimney outside, a concrete wall needed to be built inside to support the stone at the roofline. In order to build the concrete wall, the great room fireplace had to be insulated and drywalled. And so it was.
Pat and Brock got to it on Saturday. Cutting out the foam insulation from the ceiling where the block will meet the stone. Plumb lines, levels, tie backs, mixing and slugging mortar again, and again, and again. All in a day’s work. It looks so great – we may not cover it up!
Here is what they achieved outside, earlier in the week.
Other action this week: The window for the bedroom dormer arrived and the boys got her installed. The view is pretty nice if you look beyond the rubble.
After even MORE ice and water shield, Dave and Sam started the Maibec siding on the 3 front dormers. Sam did the cutting so he was up and down that scaffold countless times. Now he’s counting the days to be back at Laurier!!!
And finally, the aluminum boys from RMW Exteriors arrived Friday (with Frosties from Wendy’s ta boot!!). Nice. Stay tuned on the name front…
Fingers crossed we’ll be 100% watertight by Labour Day.
