Sept 25-Oct 1 The Last Stone (sort of)

FINALLY. The last stone was laid on Saturday, October 1 at 6:56 pm. Once again, Brock missed out on all the glory. He had a company hockey tournament to go to, but Pat was determined to get it done even if it killed him. It came close to that. Thankfully Dave stepped in to help him through the final moments. If you’re curious, check out this video – it all came down to these last 3 minutes.

Pat and Brock began the stone work on Saturday, July 16. They went to their day jobs and then slugged it out at 588 afterwards and on weekends. If you want a better sense of just how much work it was, check out this video and then times is by a thousand, because that’s approximately how many full bed stones they laid. Not even time for a proper smoke break.

Our poor neighbours (two with pools) endured the cutting and chipping and cutting and chipping for 10 long weeks. And then there was the dust! Absolutely brutal. Coincidentally, on Saturday afternoon, this happened.

They must hate us.

Of course it rained last week too, so “The Bunker” was set up again. Pat attempted to recruit Ralphie but he barely lasted one day. Here is a smattering of photos of what when down.

And the fat lady is not singing just yet. Pat and Brock still have to complete the coping stone and the original front bay needs to be demoed and replaced, but laying that stone was pure joy! Here is a recap of what they’ve done to date.
