May 29-31

Last week was a doozy and warrants a few posts.

We’ve been waiting patiently, for a break in the weather in order to pour the concrete deck. Monday was a bust, but the relentless rain did produce the first rose.

Tuesday May 30 – More Rain

The morning started off just fine. Favourite brother Chris Reitzel showed up bright and early to assess the pool heater situation. Apparently, since it will eventually be enclosed, we need to vent it through the roof. Bad news is the parts are on backorder, so we’ll be hovering at 70° for a couple more weeks. :-[

After Chris split, the hardwood flooring arrived, Dave adjusted the patio drain, while Curtis filled the garden bed with soil, then they planted the rest of the yews and buried the cable that’s been hanging in a tree and running across our yard for a year and a half (yay).

Mid-afternoon the rain came. As did the Maibec siding and closet doors from Swanson’s Home Hardware. Poor dude.

Wednesday May 31 – Sunny morning. Rainy afternoon.

Dave was on his own. He finished the Maibec siding on the front bay and would have finished the pool shed had he not run out of material. Again.

The outlook for Thursday and Friday was looking pretty good so Marty gave the concrete pour the go-ahead. Let the games begin…
