This week was a quiet one compared to last, but not short on excitement!
On Sunday, June 4 Dave figured out the dimensions of the boardwalk that will connect the back terrace to the pool deck, and ordered the material from Swanson’s. He also hung the front hall closet doors and shimmed them up. (He trimmed them out on Thursday.)
Monday, he and Sam were in Niagara all day doing the final install at The Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery & Distillery. Grand Opening was Wednesday. I highly recommend you check it out if you find yourself in Niagara-on-the-Lake this summer.

Then on Tuesday, he and Curtis helped bro-in-law Ben pour his hot tub pad . Not quite as sexay as the winery, but plenty of Wayno’s award-winning PG will be consumed in the tub once she’s in! Dave also enjoyed a round of golf in the afternoon. All-in-all the day was a “Great One.”

Wednesday, (after waking up to a minor flood in the basement – my bad BTW, but won’t go into detail), he got started on the boardwalk . He dug down, moved some gravel around and set the timbers. Then the joists and blocking went in. He did a take-off for the decking boards and placed the order.
Thursday was HOT, HOT, HOT! Chris decided his guys could move forward with the pool heater hook-up since the doors and windows won’t be installed on the shed for another 6-8 weeks. Coincidentally, the back-ordered parts happened to come in that same day, so the hook-up was 100%. Craig the gas fitter and Dan the tin knocker, worked their magic.
By Friday afternoon the water temps were at 82° and I had my inaugural swim. Niiiccccccce.
The decking boards and balance of the joists were delivered on Thursday, so early Friday morning Dave moved all the material from the front yard to the back and finished installing the joists. However, the tee decks were calling for 11:30, and he managed to get out for an astonishing 2nd round of weekday golf.
Afterwards Joe Walser and his super cool wife Deb, came by for a final measure of the beams, and my world famous triple threat burgers. Did I mention the Herrle’s carrot cake?
