We interrupt the long awaited laying of the sod with some interim mulchification.

The sod was originally ordered for late morning delivery on June 16. Dave tried the day before to switch it to first thing (I believe there was a little grovelling involved) to no avail.

At 8:45 am we had the Triple Threat Team on stand-by: Bill-the-Thrill McMichael, Sammy-Mini-Timmy Corrigan and Curveball Curtis Reitzel. These boys, and Dave are not built to be idle. So Bill and Curtis went on a boat tarp/slash/Tim Hortons mission while Dave and Sam mulched it up to pass the time.

Finally, at 12:03 the sod truck arrived.

Since when is 12:03 “Late morning”? The driver was not keen to move the skids to the back of the property (the incline was too risky) but Bill and DB would not have it. They charmed him into giving it a shot. Low and behold…

These guys did not waste a second.

Dave threw down the fertilizer and the Triple Threat just kept going…

and going…

and…

I blinked. They were done! 3.5 hours of waiting. Less than 2 hours of amazing teamwork. A huge thank you to Bill, Sam and Curtis. The BEST sod team ever!

We got lucky with 2 more days of rain and then I was on sprinkler duty. I managed to keep it alive while DB was in Naples. There were 25 rolls left over. I put a little sign out front, and they were snapped up in no time at all!
