June 20-25

This week was mostly about making decisions and trying to line up trades.

Dave and Sam spent several days mocking up the trim details for the soffit, facia and eaves to determine the ratios.

The Dynamic Duo also set up the ensuite tub and drilled holes for the plumbing, adjusted the freaking sliders that didn’t want to slide and Sam spray-bombed a cluster of hornet nests! He loves his job.

Monday, Mark and Ryan were back to finish the wiring phase.

Wednesday a brick-laying buddy of Sam’s and his colleague, came by to review the scope of work for quoting.

Thursday, we had site visits from electrician Fraser Landsborough, Matthew Bast from Bast Home Comfort, Ken from Ridley who adjusted the big sliders and Jon Young, another stone mason.

Friday we drove to Masonal in Milverton to select our walling stone. Not an easy task. If you haven’t already heard, there is a housing boom going on in the KW Region. The local quarries can’t keep up with the demand so many options are not readily available. Also, did you know that whatever stone you select from their “Wall of Rock” will not look at all the same in few years time? It fades out, quite nicely I might add. We’re going with Old World Blend.

Friday afternoon, DB took a break and enjoyed a round of golf.

Saturday we went to Glenbriar Home Hardware to assess the bath/shower situation for the new guest ensuite, and to Bast Home Comfort to confirm the fireplace selections and place the order. The debate continues…

We also went to KOI Fest with the Gallinarios. Strumbellas + Tokyo Police Club + Sam Roberts Band+ perfect weather = awesome. Who cares about Sam Roberts when there’s a  Hot Dave Sandwich to be had?!
