Aug 8-12 The good, the bad & the ugly

Starting with the Bad

Another week of record-breaking heat and rainstorms. This hit Thursday night which caused several relatively minor leaks where the dormer roofs are not finished.

Then lots of Good

Dave and Sam built out the beam in the great room, they did the shakes on the garage back gable, the Maibec siding was delivered and they figured out the plan of attack for the install. Dave and I also met with Sam Kleinknecht on Wednesday to go over the landscape plans.

The H&B Security team came on Tuesday and did the rough-in.

This made it possible for Reitzel Insulation to finally – you guessed it – begin insulating on Wednesday. A crew of 8 doing a BIG job requiring a lot of prep work.

They continued on Thursday while Dave and I were in Toronto and Sam was running the show. We arrived home to the job completed which is where the “ugly” comes in. Spray insulation looks like internal organs. Definitely not pretty.

However, the BEAUTIFUL thing about the ugly insulation is that it meant on Friday, with the weather looking like this:

3PM_August12we could FINALLY fire up THIS!

Ahhhhhhhhhh…

Unfortunately for Pat and Brock, they still couldn’t catch a break with the weather. They made progress on Tuesday (Super D’s birthday!) and again on Friday – despite the heat. Brock lugged the concrete block into the great room needed for the fireplace chimney, and assisted Pat as he continued to chip away at the stone.
